A Single Twist is often called the Maori Eternity Symbol. In Maori culture, the twist symbolises the path of life. It is thought to be based on how the flax is twisted in traditional Maori kete or basket weaving. Like the woven flax, the path of life takes many twists and turns but continues unbroken.
Koru (fern shoot)
The Koru represents the young shoot of the New Zealand fern frond unfurling. For Maori the Koru symbolises peace, tranquillity, personal growth, positive change and awakening. Its connection with new life and harmony makes pieces using the Koru design a wonderful gift for a new parent or child, newlyweds, or for someone who is embarking on a new phase of their life.
